Betty

Many thanks to Thorn cycles who managed to get our tandem ready for us in double-quick time. Special thanks to Sarah and also mechanic James who spent the best part of 1.5 hours helping us assemble and load the tandem roof carrier.

We have decided to name our tandem Betty - a nod to my grandma who helped finance the bike and also to Abbie's gran, conveniently also called Betty!

Seeing Betty on top of the car put in perspective how much of a beast this bike is! Almost the length of our Golf but held really firmly in the Pendle rack and also via a few tweaks by mechanic James. I was a bit worried about crosswinds going over Avonmouth bridge but no need to be as it held solid as a rock all the way to Oxford.  Really pleased with our purchase; the service from Thorn has been open, honest and efficient at every step. Looking forward to a small roll-out today...

Edit

Had a lovely 12 mile round trip to The Milk Shed cafe outside Bicester (Website), through the back lanes from Kidlington. Very comfortable and even giving off a safe enough impression that both my parents had a go as stoker. Looking forward to getting used to using cleats as we were sometimes finding pedals slipping at key moments, especially with road bumps.
